Water Sampling
Water samples taken from tanks shall be sent to a SAC-SINGLAS (Singapore Accreditation Council-Singapore Laboratory Accreditation Scheme) accredited laboratory for physical & chemical analysis and bacteriological examinations. Parameters are well within the Guidelines for Drinking-Water Quality set by the World Health Organisation (WHO). A test report from the accredited laboratory will be provided upon satisfactory results.
Table: Minimum parameters to be tested and the typical values for compliance as stipulated by NEA (National Environment Agency)
Physical, Chemical & Bacteriological Characteristics | Typical Water Quality Values to be complied with Physical Analysis Parameters |
---|---|
Colour (Hazen Unit) | <5 |
Turbidity (NTU) | <5 |
pH Value | 7.0 – 9.0 |
Conductivity (umhos/cm) | 80 – 550 |
Chemical Analysis Parameters
Physical, Chemical & Bacteriological Characteristics | Typical Water Quality Values to be complied with Physical Analysis Parameters |
---|---|
Residual Chlorine (as mg/l CL2) | <2.0 |
Iron (as mg/l Fe) | <0.04 |
Chemical Analysis Parameters
Physical, Chemical & Bacteriological Characteristics | Typical Water Quality Values to be complied with Physical Analysis Parameters |
---|---|
Total Colony Count (cfu/ml, 35oC, 48 hrs) | <500 |
E.Coli (cfu/100ml, 35oC, 24 hrs) | <1 |
How We Keep Your Samples Safe and Accurate
You wouldn’t trust a cracked tank with your water, so why trust poor handling with your samples? At Tank-Tech Engineering, we know accuracy starts with integrity:
- Clear Labeling: Every sample is meticulously tracked from collection to analysis.
- Proper Preservation: Whether it’s refrigeration or chemical stabilization, we match storage to your parameters. Choosing the right sample container is crucial to prevent contamination and ensure the sample's integrity during storage and transport.
- Error-Free Handling: Our team follows rigorous protocols to avoid contamination and ensure the data you receive is 100% reliable.
Regulatory Compliance Made Easy
Navigating Singapore’s water regulations can feel overwhelming. That’s why we simplify it for you. Whether you’re meeting PUB standards or environmental protection laws, we handle your sampling with compliance in mind.
Our services include:
- Testing for legal reporting and compliance.
- Support for environmental audits and impact assessments.
- Data collection that stands up in court, if needed.
Water Quality Parameters and Testing
Water quality parameters are the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics used to assess the quality of water. These parameters include pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and nutrient levels, among others. Water quality testing involves analyzing water samples for these parameters to determine their concentrations and identify potential pollutants.
At Tank-Tech Engineering, we utilize advanced testing methods to measure these critical parameters. Our state-of-the-art sampling equipment ensures that the water samples we collect are analyzed with precision. By understanding the specific water quality parameters, we can provide insights into the health of the water body and identify any potential issues that need to be addressed.
Data Analysis and Interpretation
Data analysis and interpretation are critical steps in water quality sampling. The data collected from water quality testing are analyzed to identify trends, patterns, and correlations between different parameters. The results are then interpreted to determine the water quality and identify potential pollutants.
At Tank-Tech Engineering, we use specialized software and expertise to analyze the data from the samples collected. Our team interprets the results to provide actionable insights, helping you make informed decisions about water management. Whether it’s for compliance, environmental assessments, or pollution investigations, our data analysis ensures that you have a clear understanding of your water quality.
Challenges and Limitations of Water Sampling
Water sampling is a complex process that is subject to various challenges and limitations. One of the main challenges is obtaining representative samples that accurately reflect the water quality. This can be difficult in large or complex water bodies, where water quality can vary significantly over space and time. Another challenge is the potential for contamination during sampling, which can affect the accuracy of the results.
At Tank-Tech Engineering, we are well aware of these challenges and take proactive measures to address them. Our rigorous sampling procedures and meticulous handling of sample containers ensure that the samples collected are free from contamination. Additionally, we understand that water sampling can be resource-intensive and expensive, particularly for large-scale monitoring programs. That’s why we offer tailored solutions that balance accuracy with cost-effectiveness, ensuring that you get the best value for your investment in water quality monitoring.
Why You Should Act Now
Still thinking about it? Every day without proper monitoring is a gamble. Contaminants spread, compliance deadlines loom, and risks grow. But with Tank-Tech Engineering, you don’t just react—you take charge.
We don’t just collect data; we deliver confidence. From businesses to government agencies, our clients trust us to get it right the first time.
Sampling Methodology
- Sampling methodology depends on the type of water sample needed, the size of the stream, as well as the methods used to collect samples.
- For small streams, a single “grab sample” or other discrete samples can be taken, while larger rivers require more complex sampling techniques.
- Safety and risk management are crucial when collecting samples, especially in potentially hazardous conditions.
- Accurately documenting sampling locations is essential for ensuring data integrity and minimizing errors.
- Sampling methodology also depends on the water depth and flow rate.
- Water quality sampling is critical for understanding the characteristics of a water body.
